On December 15, 2017, PVmed and Shanghai University of Medicine & Health Science held the opening ceremony of the “Joint Laboratory of Medical Imaging Intelligent Diagnosis” at Pudong campus. Gang Huang, president of Shanghai University of Medicine & Health Science, Daofang Zhang, vice president, Peizhong He, dean of the School of Medical Imaging, Yao Lu, president of PVmed, Sean Shen, CEO of PVmed attended the opening ceremony. PVmed and Shanghai University of Medicine & Health Science will develop extensive and comprehensive strategic cooperation of scientific research, database construction, team building, and talent training in the area of medical image intelligent analysis and medical big data analysis.

Yao Lu, the founder of PVmed, is an expert of "The Recruitment Program of Global Young Professionals ", leader of national medical imaging major project, researcher of University of Michigan Medical School, core member of GE medical mammography and CAD project. He has more than 10 years of experience in medical imaging post-processing, medical imaging analysis and AI research. The total amount of national research projects hosted by him is more than 20 million yuan. He is also professor, doctoral supervisor and chief of computational medical imaging laboratory, Sun Yat-sen University. He is experienced in team building and talent training in top institutions.

Shanghai University of Medicine & Health Science is one of the largest undergraduate colleges in medical imaging in China. The list of its teaching hospitals contains several tertiary-A hospitals in Shanghai such as Zhongshan Hospital, Huashan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University, Renji Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai Chest Hospital and Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital. They have advantages in clinical medical data and imaging.

Shanghai University of Medicine & Health Science will establish cooperative relationship with PVmed based on the “Joint Laboratory of Medical Imaging Intelligent Diagnosis”. They hope to cooperate with PVmed to develop and clinically validate the technologies for medical imaging intelligent diagnosis based on PVmed's technical advantages in medical AI and big data. At the same time, they hope the joint Laboratory will help them to develop frontier technology of Intelligent image analysis, new mechanism of talent training and discipline construction.

After establishing long-term relationships with a number of affiliated hospitals of Sun Yat-sen University, the establishment of this joint laboratory shows that PVmed has gained more recognition from domestic medical imaging institutions by its world's top R&D capabilities and the best team in the medical AI area. By now, PVmed's partners include most top tertiary-A hospitals in South China, East China and North China. Different from other AI companies, PVmed pay more attention to the clinical pain points instead of focusing on commercial operations. June 29-July 1, 2018, The 9th Chinese National Conference of Nasopharyngeal Cancer was held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. This conference is hosted by the China Anti-Cancer Association Nasopharyngeal Professional Committee and Sichuan Anti-Cancer Association, and organized by the Cancer Hospital Affiliate to School of Medicine, UESTC·Sichuan Cancer Hospital and the Nasopharyngeal Committee of the Sichuan Anti-Cancer Association. More than 600 experts and scholars from various provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Europe participated in this academic conference to discuss the hot issues in the diagnosis and treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma such as clinical staging, standardized treatment, radio physics and so on. PVmed demonstrated the automatic delineation system for nasopharyngeal carcinoma radiotherapy and other AI technologies and products.

On December 1, 2017, the 2017 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), which is known as the best annual global radiology conference, ended in Chicago. Philips released a revolutionary artificial intelligence platform IntelliSpace Discovery 2.0 (ISD2.0). As the only AI partner of the platform, PVmed had attracted great attention from the industry. Its CT/MRI-based automatic delineation system for nasopharyngeal carcinoma radiotherapy has been embedded in the ISD platform.
